Mar Herrera

Mar Herrera Casariego (Gijón, 1971) bridges her background in the sciences as a qualified veterinarian with a disciplined, ongoing painterly vocation. Her artistic practice has taken shape through years of intensive training alongside leading figures in figurative and contemporary art, refining her visual language at renowned studios such as Atelier Luis Azón and through specialized workshops on form, color, and texture with acclaimed artists.

In recent years, she has expanded her presence in the art circuit, earning selection in prestigious national competitions including the Nicanor Piñole Painting Contest (2026), the Juan Francés National Painting Prize (2025), and the Timoteo Pérez Rubio Painting Prize (2023), alongside honors in small-format and plein air painting contests.

Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions such as Sedens Silum (Galería Félix, Gijón) and has reached an international audience through group shows, including at RARE Gallery (Hampshire, UK), marking a trajectory in steady growth.
